The Founders

Vikram Kandula

Vikram started doing business straight after college, exporting fashion clothing and accessories to Europe. Although business was good, he was still on the look-out for something else. Living both in Delhi and Mumbai he kept in touch with an international crowd of students and trainees and waited for something to turn up. When it did, during a wedding he visited with Frederic, he didn't hesitate and started planning to move to Europe. His first stop was Amsterdam, to set up the business and the next stop Milan, where he had enrolled in an international management master's at the Bocconi university. Now that the Milan-Amsterdam axis had been established, Hampi Products was ready to begin it's growth.

Frederic Sanders

Frederic took some more time to finish his degree (graduating when he was 32), but didn't waste any time thereafter. After finishing the traineeship that brought him to India, which is where he met Vikram, he started pitching the leaf plates to everyone he knew. Having graduated in literature, some of his friends where quite surprised. But Frederic was undeterred. After all those years of only reading and writing, he couldn't wait to get his hands dirty and the leaf plates were exactly the right thing for him. Having worked in many catering jobs during his long studies, he understood the potential of the plates immediately. Quickly he transformed himself into an entrepreneur and set out, with Vikram, to bring Hampi's natural leaf plates to the world.
